bigfoot2 Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 hi im having a bit of trouble with my aircon, i bought it last year and only used the aircon several times during the summer. i tried it again last week and its temp reading was 18 to 20c. ive read a few posts about flashing auto temp control etc and this is what happened to me it would flash for about 5 secs. i disconnected battery and the flashing has stopped. when i activate the aircon i can hear a hissing sound in the evaporator in passenger side its intermittent. i can hear the compressor kicking in so there must be enough refrigerant in the system, the fan is turning under the bonnet but im not getting any cool air. i have felt the small pipe leading into the evaporator and that is cold to touch,is there any thing i can look at.it is still under warranty with motor nation, there giving me a free 1 hour diagnostic. after that they will charge Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 Firstly - all new UK spec and UK registered Galaxys should be covered by a 3-year warranty. Imports are covered by a 2-year warranty. Check to see if you are covered by Ford's warranty first, as aircon repairs can be very expensive! Then, if it is not covered, investigate the Motor Nation warranty. I speak from experience - last year I bought a 2-year old Gal from an MPV specialist with 6 months of their warranty but used the Ford original 3 year warranty to have the aircon system almost totally replaced under warranty (about a grand's worth of parts and labour). bigfoot2 Posted May 10, 2004 Author Report Posted May 10, 2004 thanks for reply ivordoes the ford warranty only apply if the car has been serviced with them?.when i bought it m/nation said it had been serviced, all was signed and sealed,i checked the service book, there was no first service stamp, just the second service stamp from a garage by the looks of it at 24500 miles. m/nation says my next service with them is 01 june. shouldnt they have serviced it before it come off the forcourt.regards Quote
